Company History
Food Express was started in 1983 by Walter, Joanna, and Kevin Keeney. The original core business was the transportation of bulk corn starch from Stockton, CA, to points in the Pacific Northwest and backhauling bakery flour to central California Points.
Over the years, the business has grown from an initial 7 tractor/trailer combinations to a current total of over 300 tractors and 450 trailers.
While bakery flour and corn starch remain an essential part of our current business, we have expanded into many other commodities in the Northwest, including pebble lime, clay, and many chemicals for the paper manufacturing industry. We have also added liquid trans-load, super-sacking of dry product, and warehousing to our Vancouver, WA location.
Along with our headquarters in Palmdale, California, and 7 fixed terminal locations, we have equipment stationed in areas from Phoenix, AZ to Seattle, WA, Fresno, CA, and Billings, MT. This gives us a great amount of flexibility in our ability to meet the needs of bulk product shippers.
